A powerful wave of mental energy caused Mu Cai's consciousness to blur momentarily.
Claire noticed this situation immediately.
Before anyone else could react, he took a step forward, and gently pulled Mu Cai into his arms.
Mu Cai's mind went blank, his vision filled with swirling snowflakes. Nearly losing his balance, he was steadied by a pair of hands from behind.
Turning his head, Mu Cai found himself looking into Claire's worried emerald-green eyes. He heard the other ask in a low voice, “Are you okay?”
Mu Cai steadied himself on Claire’s arm and shook his head. Quickly, he recovered his composure and told everyone present, as well as the people over the communicator. "The Zerg are preparing for a major move."
Just as his words faded, a shocked exclamation came through the communicator.
Everyone in the warship looked up and saw the massive Zerg warship, as vast as a nebula, now moving over the top of their own ships. The shadow it cast was enormous, obscuring the sky and dimming the light inside the command room.
Simultaneously, the communicator was filled with waves of shocked gasps and curses.
"Damn, these ugly zergs are charging directly onto the warship!"
"Quickly, activate the defense program!"
"It doesn't work! Their shells are too hard! Damn it, I can hear the scraping sounds on top of the warship!"
"All hands on deck! We cannot let the warship land!"
"..."
For a while, the voices through the communicator were overlapping and noisy. The panicked voices came not only from other warships but also from personnel stationed behind the warship sending messages for help.
From above the warship came loud crashing sounds. The force and intensity of the impact made everyone feel as if the warship's ceiling, made of specialized material, would break at any moment.
Accompanying the impact was a scratching noise, like something clawing the warship's hull. The uncomfortable scraping sounds filled the room, reminding everyone of countless insect feet wriggling, tormenting everyone's nerves.
In this environment, the patience of the people in the command room was exhausted. They were no longer able to keep calm and started to vent their anxiety and anger. Some even wanted to go straight into battle in their mechas, but were held back by others.
Without the captain's command, they mustn't act rashly.
Some turned their gaze towards Nolan, others towards Claire, but for the first time, these two simultaneously looked at Mu Cai. Amidst the overwhelmingly noisy background, Mu Cai, holding the communicator, calmly assessed the situation: "This operation was commanded by the Zerg Queen. However, it's impossible for the Queen to control all these zergs at once; she must have first controlled the brain bugs, which in turn control each zerg formation."
His voice was clear and pleasing, piercing through the layers of noise into the command room and the ears of everyone at the communicator's end, calming their nerves.
Radically, the static in the communicator diminished. For a moment, apart from the scratchy noises of zergs harassing the spaceship, the surroundings became significantly quieter.
Mu Cai continued: “Therefore, we must first deal with the brain bugs. I can sense that all psychic fluctuations are coming from above, which means, all brain bugs are hidden within the spaceship. I will call out all their approximate locations. Everyone, don't panic. You can continue searching and then attacking. The spaceship, specifically designed for combat with the Zerg, can hold on for a long time. The more perilous the situation, the more composed we should be.”
His speech was clear and concise, his plan, a solution to the urgent problem, greatly boosted everyone's morale. The communicator echoed with acknowledgments.
However, some remained worried: "The number of Zerg is vast, and the brain bugs are countless. Even if we eliminate some of the brain bugs, more zergs will rush towards us."
Leon had long been tormented by the actions of these zergs. He had barely managed to contain his anger when he heard such a demoralizing statement. He couldn't help but rebuke, "What bullsh*t! Don't you think others know about this issue?! Is your brain only capable of inciting unrest? After making such a morale-crushing statement, give us a solution! Otherwise, you're more of a problem than a solution!"
The individual who made the previous comment fell silent.
However, Mu Cai took the initiative, "I have figured out the approximate location of the Zerg Queen. I plan to go there and investigate, which may help alleviate the current situation."
His statement was thrown lightly, but it detonated like a bomb in the hearts of everybody who heard it, causing waves of shock.
After a brief moment of disbelief, Leon couldn't help but express his concern: "You're going? But, but..."
But what?
Only Mu Cai could sense the specific location of the Zerg queen through psychic fluctuations. Others, even with detectors, wouldn't know how long to search or which fluctuation was the Zerg queen's.
To truly address the current predicament, heading straight for the Zerg queen was indeed a sensible move. Even if they couldn't kill her, they could attract the majority of the zergs' firepower, thereby reducing the pressure on everyone.
However, everyone knew that the defense was strongest around the Zerg queen, making it the most dangerous place in the entire battlefield.
And Mu Cai was just an omega. Although he was also a mech warrior, this didn't change the fact that he was an omega - delicate and attractive.
The majority of those present who were able to go to battle with the army were alphas. Now, they had to rely on an omega to risk their lives and save them, which was a sign of their own incompetence and weakness as alphas.
Whether psychologically or instinctually, the alphas present almost subconsciously wanted to stop the other party.
Claire's voice was no longer cold as usual but slightly urgent: "Cai Cai, you can't do this."
He quickly proposed a plan: "Let me go down. I'll search, and you command me from here, okay?"
Claire spoke very hastily, and the plan he proposed on the spot was, of course, unfeasible. Only Mu Cai could sense the mental fluctuations of the Zerg queen, so if he stayed on the warship, he could not determine the distance between the two through the strength of the fluctuation.
Nevertheless, Claire stubbornly looked at Mu Cai. The person standing opposite had a pair of green eyes, with a pleading expression on their face.
Mu Cai's heart was moved, and he smiled: "Of course, you're also going down with me. Do you think I'm just one person going down? Without your protection, I can't do anything."
His voice was soft in the end, like a feather gently brushing against Claire's heart. The young man opposite looked over with shiny black eyes, reflecting two little Claire's.
This feeling made Claire's heart tickle, and he was almost instantly lost in this tenderness.
When Mu Cai spoke, he had not put the communicator away. Therefore, his words immediately spread to all the warships' command rooms. For a moment, all the alphas on these ten warships felt an intense jealousy and resentment.
In the thick of the battle situation, the leader of the Léon family actually had such good fortune! (Note: I just realized that Leon and Léon could be confusing for you guys. So Leon = one of the supporting male leads; while Léon [with the accented e] = Claire's family name)
Claire's heart started to pound heavily.
Cai Cai unabashedly said these words in front of everyone. Did this mean he was not afraid to show their intimacy to others? Did it mean that maybe Cai Cai liked him just a little?
Claire's emotions were very complex, a mixture of anxiety and elation.
He did not want Mu Cai to confront the Zerg queen directly. But if Mu Cai didn't go, due to the attacks from the Zerg fleet above them, the warship wouldn't be able to directly search for the Zerg queen. If they didn't find the Zerg queen, their mission could end up in a total loss.
Perhaps Mu Cai had put life and death aside for everyone's sake, but Claire couldn't bear to watch the person he liked knowingly walk into danger.
Luckily this time, Mu Cai wanted him to accompany him. If there was danger, he could protect him. Even if they didn't succeed in the end, Mu Cai gave him the right to "die together". Not being able to "live together", Claire felt it was worth it if he could join his beloved in eternal rest.
The fact that Mu Cai bestowed him with this right, could it be evidence of his possessiveness towards him?
Claire trembled with excitement whenever he entertained such a possibility.
His blood boiling with passion, Mu Cai, after teasing, still maintained composure despite the slight blush on his face. He calmly deployed, "I will request twenty mecha warriors to accompany me in the breakthrough to the Zerg queen. The others will stay on the warship and clear out the attacking zergs. Although I said the warship can hold on for a longer time, it doesn't mean we should let these zergs corrode the warship. Does everyone understand?"
His words brought everyone's attention back, and they all responded, "Understood."
Leon thought for a moment, and said through the communicator with slight resentment, "Does Star of Dawn need any assistance? The Federation's Blade can provide mecha warriors."
He found it unbelievable. Claire wasn't the captain of Star of Dawn! That meant he didn't have to be tied to the warship, that's how he got the opportunity to fight alongside Mu Cai!
His decision to be the second-in-command before the battle was so cunning!
Upon hearing Leon's words, Mu Cai outright refused, "The warships are too far apart. I'll just take twenty mecha warriors from Star of Dawn. If you have spare personnel, please help clear the zergs on Star of Dawn."
The Star of Dawn's configuration was the highest among the ten warships, with the most ammunition and mecha warriors. It could easily allocate an extra twenty mecha warriors to assist him.
Most importantly, under the circumstances of countless zergs present on planet Kotal, it would indeed be inconvenient for reinforcements from other warships to join them.
Nolan immediately selected twenty mecha warriors to stand out, ready to follow Mu Cai to execute the Zerg queen.
Holding the communicator, Mu Cai reported the approximate locations of all the brain bugs he could sense. After doing this, his slender hand lightly tugged at the necklace around his neck, and the sky-blue mecha appeared beside him.
Subsequently, in the control room, under everyone's watchful eyes, before he got into the cockpit, he glanced at Claire, who hadn't acted yet, "When are you planning to carry me down?"

Occasionally proactive Cai Cai: Not skilled at the task qwq, seems like a failure.
Claire lost in his imagination: Does he like me?! Does he want to be with me?! Is he planning to live and die with me?!
Thanks for the update
