Applaud for Happiness - Chapter 67

Chapter 67

Shen Qi raised an eyebrow at the proposal, put down the meat bar in his hand, and grinned. "Sure, come here, I'll play with you."

Dragon Chi happily approached, but when he saw the short knife in Shen Qi's other hand, he instantly halted. A sudden thought came to him. "I, I, I... not here, but in the water! Yes, in the water — they were playing in the water, so we should too."

Shen Qi chuckled. "Wait a moment." Then he picked up the short knife and chopped the meat bar into sections. Casually, he tossed the slices into a golden plate nearby and put down the knife. "Let's go."

Dragon Chi shivered a bit, and his formerly stiff elements deflated somewhat. But, his curiosity overcame his fear. After all, what could he fear from a human? He was a member of the great dragon clan!

Surprisingly, Shen Qi was not upset at all. Instead, he was somewhat pleased. He had been contemplating how to enlighten Dragon Chi. What happened with Mori and York was a big help. Shen Qi was not eager to rush into anything. Instead, he decided to test the waters. If this tension could resolve the issue, then everything would be fine. Even biting, if necessary, which would still be better than a real fight.

After all, there were two of those things!

However, their experience showed that short cuts aren't always that simple.

Shen Qi alternated handheld movements, speeding up then slowing down. Ten minutes passed, then half an hour, but there was no sign of Dragon Chi's hardness subsiding.

Dragon Chi, however, seemed thoroughly pleased. He shifted from standing to sitting on the stone steps that Shen Qi set up by the water. With a satisfied look on his face and a hum in his throat, it was clear Shen Qi had hit the spot.

An hour had passed, and Shen Qi was feeling weary. His wrist was sore and he decisively let go.

As soon as he did, Dragon Chi became restless. He opened his eyes in dissatisfaction, grabbed Shen Qi's hand, and put it back, urging him with his eyes, "Touch."

Shen Qi frowned, "Touch it yourself." He was thinking that merely stoking might not work; even another hour might not bring any results. He licked his lips, hesitating.

Dragon Chi observed his expression, suddenly seeming to understand something. He peeled back Shen Qi's apron, taking hold of little Qi. Mimicking Shen Qi's previous actions, he started moving his hand. "I'll help you too," he said. At the same time, he put Shen Qi's hand back and gestured for him to move.

Shen Qi involuntarily inhaled sharply and swatted Dragon Chi's hand away, "Thanks, but no need!"

Dragon Chi had a dejected look on his face.

Shen Qi took a deep breath to calm himself. "Close your eyes."

Huh? Dragon Chi tilted his head.

"Close your eyes. Until I tell you, don't open them," Shen Qi tried to sound as gentle as possible, coaxing him. "I'll show you something even more fun, it’ll feel much better than before."

Better?

Dragon Chi's eyes lit up momentarily, and he enthusiastically nodded before obediently closing his eyes.

After that, he tensed, his entire body stiffened, then relaxed. What was this warm, moist sensation enveloping him? It felt so good, he felt like roaring.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, he did just that, emitting a low growl from his throat. The sound startled the birds in mid-air, causing them to flutter down.

The suppressed fire within him threatened to erupt. Dragon Chi longed to transform back into his usual form and spread his wings freely. However, considering Shen Qi, he suppressed the impulse, realizing that once he transformed, flames would inevitably spill out uncontrollably. Being a mere human, Shen Qi would undoubtedly be consumed by his fire.

He didn't want this human to die.

Even though he was a male, Shen Qi had managed to rouse his desire. Moreover, he made delicious meals, his scent was comforting, and importantly, he didn't fight over the gold coins. Dragon Chi regarded him as a good human that he wished to keep. He remembered there were dragons in his tribe who had humans as their companions.

What was their approach to human companionship?

As he dwelled on his past memories, contemplating how the other dragons treated humans, an idea came to mind. Offering gold coins? No, Shen Qi didn't have a liking for them, and offering something one dislikes could swiftly lead to disagreements, similar to how he'd get upset if given silver coins.

How about holding him?

At the trading convention, he distinctly remembered a frost dragon who never set a human he was holding down. Although Shen Qi was a bit larger compared to that human, it didn't matter to Dragon Chi; he knew he could manage to lift him.

If only Shen Qi were a female, he wistfully recollected the sight of a female dragon mating with a human. Then he could mate with him.

Why was the dragon god so cruel to him, making him the laughingstock of his entire species? It was rare to find someone who ignited his desire, only to discover that he was also a male.

The mere thought of this made him so sad that he wanted to cry.

However, before he could shed a single tear, something else cried out for him down below.

In the midst of his astonishment, he tried to compose himself.

Coughing, Shen Qi had prepared to avoid all of it, but he still ended up with it splashing all over his face. He wasn't able to react in time and quickly dove into the water, washing himself again and again. When he finally ensured that there was no residual smell, he forgave his reddened skin.

As for the portion he couldn't control and had swallowed, there was nothing he could do. Although he tried to vomit, nothing came out.

Shen Qi intended to scold him, but upon seeing Dragon Chi's shocked and speechless expression, he sighed and let it go. After all, he had ended up with such a lover.

On second thought, at least it came from the dragon's body, and in any world, creatures like him were considered full of treasures. It wasn't much of a loss for Shen Qi.

Shen Qi forced himself to see the positive side; otherwise, he feared that he might lose his temper and rush back to the cave to get a knife.

What ultimately made him give up pursuing the matter was the sight of Dragon Chi crying.

As Dragon Chi came to his senses, he blinked twice. Then, his eyes reddened in an instant.

Opening his mouth, he let out a dragon roar and leaped into the air. In mid-air, he transformed back into his original form, spreading his wings, wailing, and soaring.

He was overjoyed, circling the island, darting up, swooping down, flying horizontally in a 180-degree arc, and spinning around in a 360-degree circle. He wished he could proclaim his happiness to the entire world.

In the end, he spat a long stream of fire into the sky, disappearing into the horizon.

Shen Qi's expression darkened slightly as he guessed what Dragon Chi might have gone off to do. With his intelligence, Dragon Chi must have thought he was cured and then went to find someone, no, a dragon, to wash away his past shame.

"Alright, very well," Shen Qi said with a cold laugh. "I'll be waiting for him when he comes back!"

Everyone in this world seemed to need a lesson!

Dragon Chi was gone for five days. When he returned on the fifth day, he looked downcast as if he had experienced a heavy blow. It appeared as if he had returned to his previous hopeless state.

Shen Qi was chopping meat, and the knife made rhythmic sounds on the cutting board. He squinted: "You're back?"

Upon seeing Shen Qi, Dragon Chi's eyes lit up as if he had thought of something. "No, I'm not useless!" he rushed over. "I can stand up again! I didn't lie to them. I really can stand again!"

He tried to grab Shen Qi's hand but was deftly brushed away, receiving an indifferent hum in response.

Desperate, Dragon Chi used brute force to catch Shen Qi's hand and placed it on himself. Quickly, the two small, limp objects inflated into larger ones.

Tears welled up and fell from his eyes, and he both cried and laughed. "I didn't lie. They can stand." He looked at Shen Qi with a pitiful expression. "Why don't you believe me? I'm not a useless dragon..."

"So, what now?" Shen Qi pulled his hand back, his expression cold. "Are you planning to find a female dragon to live with? If so, please send me, Mori, and York back to the mainland. We'll go to any country, as long as it's not St. Carlos."

Dragon Chi stopped crying, appearing a bit stunned as he digested Shen Qi's words. It took him a while to recover before he immediately shook his head, "No, you can't leave!"

"Why not?" Shen Qi raised an eyebrow.

"Because... because..." Dragon Chi thought for a while, "You must stay to cook for me."

"I can find a professional chef for you."

"You need to stay to talk to me."

"As long as you're willing to pay, there will be plenty of people willing to talk to you."

"But they're not you!" Dragon Chi blurted, looking as if that were the most obvious thing in the world. "I don't like other humans, I only like you. I don't like those two servants of yours from the valley either. You can cook and talk and even help me stand up. Touch me, see? If it were as you said, I'd have to deal with a bunch of humans. But if you stay, I only have to deal with you."

'In addition, you don't want gold coins,' he thought to himself.

He added resentfully, "Humans are too cunning. They always like to deceive us."

"We, not they," Shen Qi corrected him. "I am also a human, and I am just as cunning."

"No, you're different!" Dragon Chi was quick to shake his head.

"How am I different?" Shen Qi had stopped chopping meat long ago and was now loosely holding the knife, looking at him leisurely.

"Err..." Dragon Chi was stunned by the question again, looking confused. It was clear that he didn't know how Shen Qi was different, so he struggled to say, "In any case, you're just different."

Shen Qi didn't press for more information, and resumed the previous topic, "So, what do you plan to do next? Look for a female dragon, or..."

"No, I won't look for a female dragon!" Dragon Chi looked wronged, "I will never look for a female dragon again. They don't believe me, and they even mock me. It's too cruel!"

He appeared very devastated, seemingly resigned to spending his life alone.

Lowering his head, he glanced at his two playthings, then looked at Shen Qi, and sighed sorrowfully, "Ah, why aren't you a male or a female? If only you were a female."

Hesitating for a moment, his gaze fell on Shen Qi's hand. Thinking of something, his two playthings swelled even more, and he chirped, "Let's play 'touch' again..." He smacked his lips, reminiscing.

Shen Qi laughed, and with a thunk, he stabbed the knife into the cutting board, "I'll play with you."

Seeing the glinting blade, Dragon Chi hesitated for a moment, but his desire ultimately prevailed. He happily hoisted Shen Qi on his back and ran towards the pool.

Knowing that Shen Qi liked cleanliness, Dragon Chi washed the two playthings thoroughly. Excitedly, he handed them to Shen Qi, watching him expectantly.

Shen Qi played 'carrot pulling' with a smile. This time he was prepared, and it didn't feel tiring at all. An hour passed, and Dragon Chi followed the same pattern as last time. He obediently closed his eyes, waiting for the more exhilarating game he expected. However, after waiting for ten minutes with his eyes closed, he didn't feel anything.

"Something's wrong." He opened his eyes and said, baffled, "It's not that."

"You mean that game?" Shen Qi paused, "I can play that, but I have one request."

Dragon Chi asked anxiously, "What is it?"

Shen Qi still had a playful smile on his face. "I'm about to turn sixteen and become an adult. Just like you looking for a female dragon, I also need to find someone to accompany me. May I ask you to take me to the mainland? I can find a companion and bring them back. Or, alternatively, you can bring someone back for me."

Upon hearing this, Dragon Chi went limp. It was like his excitement was a poked balloon, his arousal instantly diminished.
