Chapter 62
After receiving Su Yao's response, Qin Zhongjin turned his body around. The person in his arms was resting sweetly on his shoulder, his soft hair carrying the unique chill of a ghost, eliciting a shock response from the skin on his neck and constantly asserting his presence.
Holding the beauty in red steady, as well the suddenly well-behaved chubby peach tree, he stepped out of the door, descended the staircase, and walked through the iron gate.
Outside the villa's gate, a black car had been waiting for a long time. From a distance, the assistant saw Qin Zhongjin carrying a beauty in red emerging from the villa, followed by a distinguished-looking young man in his twenties.
Based on the assistant's years of experience with the old ancestor, the person in his arms was likely not an ordinary individual. However, this was not something he should concern himself with. So, without asking any questions, the assistant respectfully opened the rear car door for the old ancestor.
Qin Zhongjin, carrying Mu Cai, sat in the back seat and, addressing Su Yao, said only one sentence: "Take the passenger seat."
It was quite evident that he didn't want to be disturbed.
Su Yao glanced at the sleeping Mu Cai.
His eyes were closed, his long eyelashes resembling crow feathers cast a small shadow beneath his eyes. Under the dim light inside the car, his strikingly white feet peeped out from under the red dress, crossed, resting on the seat cushion. Rounded toes and graceful curves constantly drew people's attention, regardless of the time and place.
Su Yao paused for just a moment when Qin Zhongjin's deep voice rang out again, filled with authority and sternness: "I've told you, don't overthink things. You're still young and inexperienced, so it's easy for you to be misled. But there are some things you shouldn't be thinking about."
As he said this, he didn't turn his head but instead looked at the sleeping face of the person in his arms. One hand gripped Mu Cai's slender shoulder while the other's long, slender fingers gently brushed aside the other's messy, long hair.
There was a chubby dumpling on the lap of the red-robed beauty. Seeing the movement, the dumpling's plump little face showed an angry expression, as if it saw a villain. It opened its mouth as if it wanted to bite Qin Zhongjin's arm.
Qin Zhongjin's expression remained unchanged; with a light wave of his hand, the little dumpling transformed into a small peach. The little peach wiggled restlessly, wanting to jump onto Qin Zhongjin's face but was quickly captured and put into an invisible space.
After completing all of this, he spoke softly and slowly: "Do you understand now?"
Su Yao's hand hanging by his side clenched and then released. In the end, all he could do was mumble, "Thank you for the reminder, Elder Ancestor."
He opened the car door of the front passenger seat and got in. The assistant beside him showed a calm expression, as if they hadn't heard the conversation between the two just now. The assistant silently started the car.
Through the rearview mirror, Su Yao saw that Qin Zhongjin was in the backseat, holding the red-robed beauty's face in his hand while carefully examining it. Of course, he still had his eyes closed.
Qin Zhongjin is the only one in this world who has opened the "Heavenly Eye". Su Yao, who has lived with his grandfather for over a decade, has a fair understanding of what opening the "Heavenly Eye" implies. It means giving up seeing things with the naked eye, instead using different means to perceive one's surroundings. This allows one to see many affairs that ordinary people cannot see.
Naturally, this doesn't mean the naked eye becomes blind, it's just typically kept closed and not used.
Su Yao doesn't know what the world looks like through Qin Zhongjin's eyes, nor does he understand how the beauty in red appears in Qin's viewpoint. What he does know is that Elder Qin has just warned him, and yet he finds himself becoming inexplicably close to the beauty in red.
Initially, Su Yao wondered if he had misunderstood the elder's meaning. However, now he understands that his perceptions weren't wrong at all! Qin Zhongjin was warning him, not about being bewitched by a beautiful ghost, but about not coveting the person that Elder Qin favors!
Once he held onto this hypothesis, many things started to make sense.
When Su Yao first arrived in Mr. Jin's room, he was too stunned by the beauty in red to think clearly, so many details went unnoticed. Upon revisiting the whole incident, he noticed several discrepancies.
Qin Zhongjin had mentioned that although the young peach tree carried some bad karma, it wasn't severe. In other words, the young peach tree wasn't deserving of death. However, when Su Yao arrived at Mr. Jin's door, he clearly saw Qin Zhongjin brandishing a long sword, appearing ready to kill.
In retrospect, Qin Zhongjin was probably just putting on an act at the time, with the intention of luring the beauty in red out of the painting. From the beginning, Elder Qin's visit wasn't to genuinely resolve Mr. Jin's calamity, but rather, he was solely interested in that painting.
He didn't doubt that the beauty in red could have bewitched Qin Zhongjin, leading him to behave this way. Firstly, it was unlikely for a person like Qin Zhongjin to fall for such temptation. Secondly, although Su Yao hadn't opened the "Heavenly Eye," he could still sense the good and bad karma in people. The beauty in the painting was stunningly beautiful and irresistible, causing those who saw him to lose their senses, yet his soul was surprisingly pure, devoid of any evil karma.
In other words, the beauty in the painting had either never harmed anyone or even thought about it, or he had done many good deeds in the past. Su Yao felt that both scenarios were plausible. The beauty had been bound by his talisman and chains, and although he spoke aggressively when he met him again, he didn't seem to hold any grudge. He merely appeared to have a good temperament with just a hint of willful stubbornness.
This little stubbornness made him even more adorable and likable, to the point where people willingly wanted to fulfill his requests.
If only the beauty in the painting belonged to him.
Thinking about this, Su Yao's emotions became a mix of different feelings, and he felt powerless. How would his discontent help? In terms of power, talent, and prestige, he couldn't compare to Elder Qin! Even if he wanted to compete, he was no match for him!
Not to mention, it seemed like the beauty in red didn't like him either.
Su Yao's mood suddenly dropped.
As he secretly lamented in his heart, Qin Zhongjin, who was sitting in the back seat of the car, suddenly spoke up, "Xiao Lin."
The assistant driving the car immediately responded, "Yes, sir."
Qin Zhongjin gently covered the ears of the person in his arms and said in a deep voice, "Look up the price of the painting that the owner of the villa recently bought from the auction house and transfer the same amount of money to his account. It'll be like I bought the painting from him."
The assistant said, "Yes, sir."
And, Qin Zhongjin pondered, "Find out the movements of the painting before it entered the auction house. Investigate as thoroughly as possible; it would be best to find its source."
The assistant acknowledged the request again.
Qin Zhongjin then became silent. Holding the person in his arms, he closed his eyes, seemingly lost in thought.

Mu Cai had a very sweet sleep. When he opened his eyes again, he felt that his usually light and hollow body had become slightly heavier.
However, the weight on his chest was gone, and the little peach tree was missing.
Mu Cai wasn't worried. Although the protagonist didn't like him, he still had some principles and wouldn't deceive him by harming the little peach tree.
He found himself lying on a bed. The bed was a bit hard, probably because the mattress was too thin, making Mu Cai feel a bit uncomfortable. He got up and looked around, realizing that he was in a room.
The room was quite large, decorated with a hint of the old era. Several famous calligraphic paintings hung on the surrounding walls, giving off a sense of vague artistic conception.
As Mu Cai was looking around, a sound of footsteps approached, and a deep male voice came from the door, "You're awake."
Turning his head, he saw Qin Zhongjin standing at the doorway, his eyes closed, and a bright red sword mark on his forehead. He was dressed in home clothes, buttoned up neatly to his chin, and was facing his direction.
Mu Cai saw that the mission target was delivered to the door, and immediately started his duty as a spirit in a diligent manner. "So what if I'm awake? There is nothing delicious and nothing fun here. This place is so boring."
After he finished speaking, he straightened his legs, shaking his pale feet. The iron chains which were on his beautiful ankles had disappeared, leaving only a silver ring and a large black iron ring.
Mu Cai raised the foot with the iron ring toward Qin Zhongjin, and his full toes seemed to shyly curl up. He complained, "You have removed these iron chains, but why is this iron ring still here? Get it off quickly."
Qin Zhongjin did not respond to him but walked into the room and stood in front of the bed. He lowered his head and "looked" at him. "I'll take you to see the little peach tree."
With that, he stretched out his long hand towards Mu Cai, seemingly to help him get out of bed. However, Mu Cai certainly wouldn't let him do so easily, "I'm not wearing shoes. I won't get out of bed."
He held out his slender white hand and lightly touched Qin Zhongjin's warm hand, his voice carrying a hint of seductiveness, "Or else, how about brother Heavenly Master carry me there?"
As Mu Cai said this, he gently traced circles in the center of Qin Zhongjin's palm. He had learned these provocative tricks from various books and movies he had seen. Mu Cai wasn't very skilled in this aspect, his strokes were sometimes light and sometimes heavy.
According to the script, the protagonist – a cold and ascetic character – should remain indifferent to Mu Cai's provocations. Even if he really carried Mu Cai, he should show no emotion, probably just not wanting to argue with him.
As expected, Qin Zhongjin didn't hesitate and bent down to pick up Mu Cai, "I told you before to wear a pair of shoes."
Mu Cai hooked his hand around his neck and continued to act seductively, "I also said I won't wear shoes."
"Right, I know," Qin Zhongjin calmly took steps outward, "You just want to be carried by me."
Mu Cai: "..."
In that moment, Mu Cai doubted whether the system had given him the wrong script for this world. But as he looked at Qin Zhongjin's face, noticing his unchanged expression, he thought he might be overthinking it.
Since the protagonist was so calm, he was probably just stating his own deduction.
It was inevitable that a faint blush spread across Mu Cai's face. Struggling to maintain his composure, he replied, "As long as you know."
After saying this, Mu Cai rested his head on Qin Zhongjin's shoulder, ignoring him.
Therefore, he didn't see the corners of Qin Zhongjin's usually cold face lift slightly in a small smile.

Qin Zhongjin: I was captivated by my wife at first sight, but I couldn't directly confront him; that would be too brutal. So, I pulled out the chubby kid to attract him out, I'm indeed so clever!
Little Peach Tree That Eats Hands: ??? So, I'm a tool tree???
