Chapter 23
Yin Qingcheng gasped in shock.
The mouths of the three people nearby were wide open, as if they could swallow an egg whole. Who would have thought that this seemingly elegant and refined young man could be so wild?
As they stared at the young man's attractive jawline, Fu Yunci's throat felt a bit dry.
Enduring the pain, Yin Qingcheng couldn't help but swallow, his Adam's apple rolling up and down. The stretching of the skin made the pain more evident.
What was even clearer than the pain, though, were the soft lips of the young man.
"Mao... Maoqiu…" Yin Qingcheng spoke with difficulty, his voice a bit hoarse. "Are you done?"
Cheng Xuyuan lifted his head, the corner of his lips stained with a hint of bright red blood. Following that, his body began to turn transparent.
The trio nearby was even more astonished.
Cheng Xuyuan reached out to hold Yin Qingcheng's fingertips, a white glow spreading along his fingers and covering his entire body. In no time, the young man's figure disappeared into the air.
This time, Yin Qingcheng felt a completely different power, stronger than the previous feeling when the little fox spirit possessed him.
"Up."
The pleasant voice of the celestial fox rang in his ear, and Yin Qingcheng attempted to use the wind magic, succeeding with ease. He leapt into the air, soaring over four hundred meters high, to be face-to-face with the Soul Devouring Snake King.
"You've taken the theory of magic classes, right?" The celestial fox's voice rang out again. "Use all your theoretical knowledge to harness my energy."
In reality, although Yin Qingcheng had a solid grasp of theoretical knowledge, his lack of practical combat experience meant that even with the power of the Nine-Tailed Celestial Fox, he could only bring out about forty percent of it.
"You should prepare yourself," the system said to Cheng Xuyuan. "With his current strength, he can't fully utilize your energy. You might have to step in yourself."
"I believe in him," Cheng Xuyuan said, feeling that as a supporting character, he shouldn't always steal the spotlight from the protagonist.
On the ground, Fu Yunci stared at Yin Qingcheng, who looked completely different after the transformation, and said in a daze, "I also kind of want to be bitten..."
The Soul Devouring Snake King had evidently noticed the powerful energy in Yin Qingcheng. Its snake eyes glancing ominously in his direction, in the next moment, it swiftly charged towards him.
The infuriated Snake King was undoubtedly terrifying. Each venomous arrow it spat from its mouth was aimed to kill Yin Qingcheng. Although Yin Qingcheng lacked battle experience, the bountiful amount of energy within him allowed him to dodge the attacks.
After a few rounds of defense, Yin Qingcheng attempted to strike back. The main course he studied at the Shen Wu Academy was fire magic, so he chose to hurl a fireball at the opponent.
Cheng Xuyuan was puzzled. Even a high-level move like the Fire Dragon might not injure the Snake King, yet this youngster dared to use a beginner-level move such as the fireball?
The Snake King seemed to think the same. It didn't even try to avoid the fireball and allowed it to hit directly.
Yin Qingcheng, undaunted, hurled a few more fireballs.
Cheng Xuyuan finally spoke, "Can't you use some more advanced moves......"
However, before he finished speaking, he heard the Snake King scream — the fireball had actually burnt its scales!
Cheng Xuyuan was stunned!
"Don't underestimate your master," Yin Qingcheng, now possessing a huge amount of energy, was completely different from his former self. His eyes were filled with confidence. "I've researched it before. If you hide 100 times more energy inside a fireball, you might catch the enemy off guard and place them in a deadly situation."
At first, Cheng Xuyuan was impressed by the other's wit and intelligence, but then he became annoyed. He said, "What did you just call yourself? Master? I advise you not to overstep your bounds, or I'll leave the container right now."
"Maoqiu, be good," Yin Qingcheng curled his lips into a smile, "I'll give you chocolate later."
Cheng Xuyuan clenched his teeth but decided he couldn't cut ties with delicious food.
After getting burned, the Snake King was no longer dismissive of its opponent. It immediately went on the defensive, launching attacks whenever it found an opportunity, not giving Yin Qingcheng a chance to breathe.
Even with only 40% of the Nine-Tailed Fox's power, Yin Qingcheng had more than enough to handle the Snake King. He easily dodged all attacks and suddenly swooped towards the surface of the Huangpu River.
As Yin Qingcheng skimmed over the river's surface, he unleashed a powerful wind magic, summoning a hurricane that forcefully blew the river water into the sky. It formed a grand water curtain, like a beautiful fountain.
"How beautiful," Cheng Xuyuan praised, "but what's the use?"
Yin Qingcheng suddenly smiled. He looked at the Snake King surrounded by mist and extended his palm. Using water magic, he made the air more humid. The water droplets suspended in the air connected to form a vast fog.
Yin Qingcheng suddenly said something that Cheng Xuyuan didn't understand, "The water in the Huangpu River is very salty, you know."
Cheng Xuyuan raised his eyebrows, "So, you want to dehydrate the snake to death?"
"So..."
Yin Qingcheng stretched out his palm and leaned back, a powerful lightning magic forming in his hand. Several lightning balls containing countless times of energy violently struck the Snake King, who was surrounded by mist.
"It's a good conductor."
Cheng Xuyuan's eyes widened, and he felt like applauding the young man's wit. He told the system, "Truly the protagonist, even showing off can be done in such a refined manner!"
The Snake King obviously didn't expect this. The lightning balls quickly spread upon entering the mist, and the energy of the lightning magic combined with the water magic. The powerful energy of the plasma, like the harshest punishment, allowed it to experience a numbing pleasure within pain.
"Hiss hiss hiss—"
The Snake King's eyes turned red. Completely enraged, it hastily shot out of the mist. However, the mist didn't disperse. Instead, it clung to the Snake King's scales, tirelessly conducting electricity.
Yin Qingcheng took the opportunity to throw a few more lightning balls.
Cheng Xuyuan deeply respected his ruthless actions, "My goodness, what a Yang Yongxin move."
After being thoroughly shocked by "Yang Yongxin" Yin Qingcheng, the Snake King had expended a significant amount of energy. It was unable to maintain its flying height with limited strength, but it was still looking for an opportunity.
Yin Qingcheng also lowered his flying height. Instead of focusing on dodging attacks, he began to actively strike, forcing the Snake King into a passive position. During this process, various types of mutated magic were displayed, with only one commonality: Yin Qingcheng used his magic energy wildly, as if it cost him nothing.
With the Lujiazui area as the center, the magical aura of the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox spread for several miles, creating an unparalleled oppressive atmosphere.
Finally, the exhausted Snake King retreated from the surface of the Huangpu River.
However, it had no intention of giving up.
The Snake King suddenly coiled its body around the Shanghai Tower. It slithered up the majestic building, and at the very top, its snakehead emerged, sticking out a few meters long red tongue, overflowing with poison.
The Soul Devouring Snake King was called such because, as the name suggests, it possessed the ability to "devour souls."
The so-called "soul devouring" was the most powerful forbidden spell in dark magic — controlling people's minds.
The next moment, before Yin Qingcheng could react, the Snake King spat out a skyful of black poisonous mist. Upon closer inspection, this mist wasn't just ordinary poison. It possessed a strong aggressiveness and quickly spread throughout Shanghai.
If someone was unfortunate enough to be tainted by this poisonous mist, they would immediately become the Snake King's "puppet,” losing their consciousness and turning into a machine controlled by the Snake King.
Dark Giant Pythons came to be this way. On the Shen Huan Continent, there were no naturally-existing Dark Giant Pythons. They were all creations of the soul-devouring venom, and of course, this venom also granted them powerful dark magic abilities.
Yin Qingcheng was taken aback, and he blankly asked, "What... what should we do...?"
"Use light magic," The nine-tailed heavenly fox responded calmly.
Yin Qingcheng attempted to conjure a few 200x energy Light Lions. Their majestic heads pierced into the poison fog, but these efforts were like a drop in the bucket, vanishing in an instant. He tried other maneuvers, but they were all consumed by the poison fog without exception.
"How can it be so strong..." Yin Qingcheng widened his eyes.
"This isn't ordinary poison fog," Cheng Xuyuan calmly analyzed. "The Snake King is already at the end of its rope. It is practically burning its own soul core to release this poison fog. It wants to take you down with it."
Sweat started to appear on Yin Qingcheng's forehead.
The poisonous fog had spread right before his eyes. In the Huangpu River, the fish that were tainted by the fog all turned into horrific black colors, their eyes lost their luster, indistinguishable from the walking dead.
The next moment, Yin Qingcheng felt his body become lighter.
Cheng Xuyuan detached himself from the container and used wind magic to support the protagonist's body. He took the initiative to stand in the front, facing the sky full of black fog without fear.
Yin Qingcheng looked at him in shock, witnessing nine faint yet visible tails appear behind the young man. Under the sunlight, they looked like transparent flames ablaze, concealing limitless energy.
"Maoqiu, you..."
"Quiet."
Cheng Xuyuan summoned strength from his tails, raising them high and making an extraordinary sight.
In the next moment, his hands came together while he softly chanted, and a powerful light energy enveloped him.
The Soul Devouring Snake King, resigned to its fate, accelerated the release of its poisonous gas.
Yet, what was faster than the release of the gas, was Cheng Xuyuan releasing a powerful light spell.
The young lad in white floated in mid-air, a solemn look in his eyes, a cold demeanor, yet showing a touch of pity for all beings. He lightly lifted his hand. A brilliant light bloomed from his fingertips, standing tall amidst the poison fog.
Following that, he spoke slowly, pronouncing the name of his spell -
"I summon the sun to vanquish you."
The system blurted out angrily, "Are you starting this again?!"
Yin Qingcheng's eyes twitched a few times, and the next moment, his eyes filled with astonishment. The young man's light surrounded the poisonous fog, not aggressive, but acting like an inescapable net, trapping all the fog within.
It didn't take long for the poison fog to dissipate, leaving the skies above Lujiazui bright and sunny.
The Snake King's body gradually shrank, helplessly sliding down from the Shanghai Tower and dropping into the Huangpu River. Then, it spat out its own spiritual core.
However, strangely, the snake king's spiritual core dissipated the moment it was expelled.
Cheng Xuyuan frowned, suddenly sensing an unusual aura.
"System," he asked, "why do I smell a magical scent that doesn't belong to the snake king?"
The system coldly answered, "This question involves the secret of the final outcome, and I cannot tell you."
Cheng Xuyuan clenched his fists, wanting to drag the system out and punch it.
With the Snake King turned into a river python, Cheng Xuyuan and Yin Qingcheng returned to the ground. Fu Yunci sincerely praised, "You two are truly ruthless."
Cheng Xuyuan and Yin Qingcheng couldn't laugh when they heard the praise.
Just then, Fu Yunci's bracelet received a text message and a picture from the Human Special Department.
【All members of the Human Special Department, please note, there is danger at the Great Wall in Badaling, Beijing.】
The photo underneath clearly showed the scene on the Great Wall, where a massive dragon was wreaking havoc, with thunder and lightning painting the skies.
Yin Qingcheng froze when he saw the photo. After a long time, he pointed to a blonde, blue-eyed young man on the Great Wall in the photo and exclaimed, "How did he get here?!"
That young man was Devin, Yin Qingcheng's roommate who had disappeared a few days ago.
As Yin Qingcheng was surprised by Devin's appearance, Yun Yi, hiding in the shadows at the top of the Shanghai Tower, watched everything unfold and murmured, "I assumed it would take a long time, but I didn't expect the sacrifice to succeed so quickly..."
"However, with Yin Qingcheng meeting the people from the Special Department, things could get tricky." At the corner of his lips, an elusive smile appeared.
I can't be the only one so confused??? Thanks for the chapter!
