Chapter 24

"The situation is urgent," Fu Yunci's face turned grave, "I've been trying to get in touch with the magic teacher at Special Department, but they've all gone to Beijing..."

The importance of Beijing, located right under the feet of the Emperors, was self-evident.

Chen Yidong folded his hands towards the two and said, "I kindly ask both of you to go to Beijing and lend your help immediately!"

Yin Qingcheng was still in shock from seeing Devin, but his righteous character caused him to nod without giving it a second thought. He said to Cheng Xuyuan in a serious tone, "We must go there immediately. At the very least, I want to know why Devin was found under that dragon."

Cheng Xuyuan also nodded with a solemn expression. Then, he suddenly remembered the extraordinary aura of the Soul Devouring Snake King from earlier.

It felt like something had been missed.

Fu Yunci drove everyone to the Special Department's private airport. Along the way, he tried to break the ice with Cheng Xuyuan, "Hey, can I get your WeChat?"

Knowing about Fu Yunci's sexual orientation, both Zhang Xun and Chen Yidong showed disgusted expressions. They quickly said to Cheng Xuyuan, "Fu Yunci's not exactly right in the head. Please don't take offense, boss."

Cheng Xuyuan nodded in confusion.

Suddenly, Yin Qingcheng said to him, "Can you turn back into Maoqiu?"

"No." Cheng Xuyuan's gaze shifted, "Being human is more comfortable."

Yin Qingcheng glanced at Fu Yunci's fervent gaze in the rearview mirror and felt uneasy, like his belongings were being coveted. So, he said to celestial fox, "Turn back into your original form, and I'll give you some chocolate."

Half a minute later, a well-behaved fox from Qingqiu was lying on Yin Qingcheng's lap, happily munching on chocolate.

Fu Yunci gave them a strange look, unable to help but ask, "What exactly is your relationship?"

"Us?" Yin Qingcheng flashed a polite smile, "I'm his master, and he's my pet."

The words "master" and "pet," as spoken by Yin Qingcheng, carried a hint of ambiguity—a manifestation of possessiveness.

Fu Yunci clearly noticed it too, his eyebrows cinched, feeling somewhat vexed.

However, the situation was urgent at the moment, leaving no time for him to dwell much on it. Arriving at the private airport of the Special Department, they boarded a helicopter. Fu Yunci sat in the pilot's seat, speeding towards Beijing.

This helicopter had been modified by a magic teacher. With wind magic instruments installed on the propellers, it was both fast and stable, and they arrived in Beijing in less than an hour.

Looking at the Great Wall tourist center cordoned off with police tape, Fu Yunci showed his credentials to the cops and led everyone inside.

Yin Qingcheng moved to the very front of the group holding the fuzzball, prepared for any potential dangers.

Further down the line, a powerful aura of thunder magic was getting stronger.

"I have compared it." Fu Yunci looked at his wristband and addressed the group, "The dragon appearing in the photos is referred to as one of the Four Great Demon Beast Kings, the Thunder Shadow Dragon King. Interestingly, the snake that appeared on the Huangpu River earlier is another one of the Demon Beast Kings, the Soul Devouring Snake King."

"We should prepare ourselves." Chen Yidong's voice was low, his forehead sporting a slash, making him seem more intimidating, "It's very possible that the other Demon Beast Kings have also appeared in the human world."

Despite his reluctance to acknowledge, Yin Qingcheng had to agree that it was a possibility.

Ahead, several intense lightning strikes illuminated the dark, the deafening sound vindicated the caster's immense power.

After a few more minutes' walk, they saw a humongous dragon coiling in the air above the Great Wall.

Surrounding the dragon were grand mages and magical scholars, all showcasing their full strength in launching magical attacks at the dragon; however, it remained unscathed.

In this crowd, Devin seemed rather inconspicuous. Nevertheless, Yin Qingcheng, being his roommate, recognized him instantly.

Fu Yunci and the rest were staring at the dragon above the Great Wall as if they were staring at a monster from a 3D IMAX movie, even more heart-stopping than the earlier Snake King.

The furball struggled free from Yin Qingcheng's arms, jumped onto the ground, and transformed back into a barefoot boy in white, with his nine tails rapidly unfurling behind him, gleaming with an elusive luminescence.

"Are you going to bite me, again?" Yin Qingcheng asked hesitatingly. Despite Lord Skyfox's well-maintained teeth, it hurt every time he was bitten.

"Crunch."

Cheng Xuyuan bit down once more.

The constitution of a vessel was very special. Even if they were injured, they could heal indefinitely as long as they received energy.

Therefore, when Cheng Xuyuan reentered the vessel, the bite marks on Yin Qingcheng's neck had completely disappeared.

Fu Yunci watched from the side with a hint of envy in his eyes. He also wanted to feel the teeth of the beautiful young boy.

"Are you ready?"

The boy's melodious voice rang out, heralding the advent of a grand battle.

The mages fighting the Thunder Shadow Dragon King simultaneously detected a potent energy source drawing nearer. They glanced at the direction of the energy source amidst their battle, only to see a wheat-skinned young boy riding the wind, stepping to the forefront of the battlefield.

The first one to freeze in surprise was a blond boy.

Yin Qingcheng quickly flew to Devin's side, asking in surprise, "Devin, why are you here?!"

Dodging a strike from the Thunder Shadow Dragon King, Devin yelled back, "Let's deal with this guy first, I don't have time to explain now!" Being away from the Shen Huan Continent, he had switched to speaking English, his native language from Britain.

Yin Qingcheng instantly understood him, nodded, and went into battle-mode.

"However, you'd better stay out of this." Devin looked worriedly at his good for nothing roommate. After all, this was a roommate who hadn't even passed the elementary magic exam. Facing one of the Four Great Demon Beasts, the Thunder Shadow Dragon King, he would probably be signing his own death warrant.

However, the next second, Yin Qingcheng charged directly at the Dragon King.

"Are you insane?!" Devin's eyes widened in disbelief.

A halo of white light surrounded Yin Qingcheng's entire body. The aura of Earth Magic quickly gathered in his palm. With all his strength, he threw a punch in the air. A giant meteor in the shape of a fist flew towards the Dragon King.

"Bang——!"

The Dragon King had to use its full force to repel the meteor!

Everyone was shocked, their gaze turning towards the young boy who had just thrown that punch.

However, Yin Qingcheng simply curved his lips in a smirk, whispering, "It's not over yet."

The next moment, countless cracks appeared on the surface of the meteor.

Devin, who had just recovered from his shock, shook his head. He thought it was just a fancy, yet useless move.

However, what happened next completely changed his opinion.

Intense thunder energy radiated from the meteor, with countless strong lightning strikes hitting the Dragon King. The thunder energy was identical to the energy the dragon had unleashed!

The meteor shattered completely and began to fall from the sky. At this point, an Ice Mirror fell out of the meteor, suspending itself in mid-air.

Everyone was taken aback.

The Ice Mirror, a high-grade ice spell, was specifically used to reflect strong attacks. Yin Qingcheng cleverly concealed the Ice Mirror within his meteor punch, causing any attack from the Thunder Shadow Dragon King to be directly reflected.

However, the energy that a standard Ice Mirror could reflect was usually limited and wouldn't exceed the energy range of the user. The attack from the Dragon King was definitely not something an average magic guide could withstand...

Everyone looked at Yin Qingcheng with eyes full of shock and respect—especially Devin, who was so startled that his eyes nearly popped out. He mumbled to himself in disbelief, "I must be seeing things..."

The reflected energy hit the Dragon King full force. The harder it had attacked earlier, the more pain it was in now.

"I've made up my mind," Cheng Xuyuan declared to the system, "Next time, I want to use the same move, and I will name it 'Bounce Back Biubiubiu'."

The system responded, "...You seem to have some kind of unusual problem."

The Dragon King's gargantuan body trembled violently under the lightning strikes. Its thunderous roars made everyone cover their ears.

Before long, the body of the Dragon King plummeted, falling towards the depths of the valley in the mountains.

"Let's follow," Cheng Xuyuan said to Yin Qingcheng.

Despite not knowing what Cheng Xuyuan planned to do, Yin Qingcheng obeyed and followed the body of the Dragon King into the valley.

Upon hitting the ground, the Dragon King shuddered and regurgitated its spirit core.

However, the spirit core also dissipated in the wind. Cheng Xuyuan once again sensed a distinct presence.

"Do you smell anything?" Cheng Xuyuan asked Yin Qingcheng.

Yin Qingcheng sniffed around but only shook his head after a while.

At that moment, Devin also descended from the Great Wall. He observed the Dragon King's enormous body and then the surroundings, furrowing his eyebrows. Suddenly, he spoke, "I think I smell something."

Cheng Xuyuan hastily detached himself from Yin Qingcheng, anxiously questioning, "See? I told you there was a strange scent!"

Devin was startled by the sudden appearance of a boy. He was shocked as he gazed at the nine tails behind the boy, finding himself speechless for a time.

"Erm..." Yin Qingcheng stammered, "This, this is... Maoqiu..."

Maoqiu was also one of Devin's roommates. The blond boy had now become a statue, frozen in shock.

After a moment of silence, Devin slowly asked, "So, the powerful magic energy earlier, it all came from Maoqiu?"

"I am a nine-tailed celestial fox," Cheng Xuyuan protested against the nickname "Maoqiu".

"Right," a hint of pride shimmered in Yin Qingcheng's eyes, "our Maoqiu is very powerful!"

Cheng Xuyuan rolled his eyes and continued to press Devin, "What were you saying about that smell earlier?"

Staring at the body of the Dragon King, Devin said gravely, "Last semester, as a top-ten student in the Shen Wu Academy, I was invited to visit the Sacred Temple. The phantom god was still asleep at that time, but I still vividly remember his magical aura."

"Are you saying..." Yin Qingcheng gaped in disbelief, "that the Shadow Dragon King carries the aura of the phantom god? How is that possible?"

"I also find it unlikely..." After a moment's thought, Devin added, "But the phantom god once sealed the four great magic beasts. If the scent is remnants from that era, it could be possible."

"That makes sense."

Yin Qingcheng nodded in agreement. After getting answers to his questions, Cheng Xuyuan transformed back into Maoqiu and leapt into Yin Qingcheng's embrace, who then softly ruffled its head.

Devin watched them both in slight confusion. For some reason, he felt that... the way Yin Qingcheng was looking at Furball wasn't like he was looking at a pet, but more like a lover?

Shaking his head, Devin dismissed his thoughts as overthinking.

Suddenly remembering another critical question, Yin Qingcheng hurriedly asked, "Oh right, why did you suddenly disappear?"

"Disappear?" Devin's eyes widened, not fully grasping Yin Qingcheng's words.

"Yeah, the entire Shen Wu Academy was looking for you. Eight students went missing within a week!" Yin Qingcheng recalled the scene of him being interrogated, a shudder running down his spine, "If I hadn't been so weak then, I'd likely have been taken up as a suspect."

"What on earth are you talking about?!" Devin exclaimed.

Suddenly, he quickly stepped towards Yin Qingcheng and said excitedly, "Lord Yun Yi personally told me that I had been expelled by Shen Wu Academy?!"

Upon hearing this, both the person and the fox were dumbfounded.
